Incoming

Dr. Jordi Ribas from University of Barcelona, Faculty of Chemistry visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University from  January 31-February 3, 2019. He had meetings on January 31, 2019 at FCP-SU with Prof. A. Tadjer, Prof. A. Ivanova, Dr. M. Nedyalkova. Dr. Ribas delivered a lecture at SU on February 1, 2019 entitled “Spin transition in dithiazolyl-based switchable materials”. He attendance of the conference “Chemistry today for tomorrow” on February 1, 2019 and some cultural events on February 2, 2019 in Plovdiv – the European capital of culture for 2019.

Dr. Jordi Cirera from University of Barcelona, Faculty of Chemistry visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University from  January 31-February 3, 2019. He had meetings on January 31, 2019 at FCP-SU with Prof. A. Tadjer, Prof. T. Spassov, Prof. G. Tzvetkov, Assoc. Prof. S. Stoyanov. Dr. Cirera delivered lecture at SU on February 1, 2019 entitled “Theoretical modeling of the transition temperature in spin-crossover molecules”. He attendance of the conference “Chemistry today for tomorrow” on February 1, 2019 and chaired a session. He also attended some cultural events on February 2, 2019 in Plovdiv – the European capital of culture for 2019.

Prof. Francesc Mas and Dr. Sergio Madurga from University of Barcelona, Faculty of Chemistry visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University from  January 31-February 3, 2019. They had meetings on January 31, 2019 at FCP-SU with Prof. V. Simeonov, Prof. K. Balashev, Dr. M. Nedyalkova. Lectures were delivered at SU on February 1, 2019 entitled “Modelling polyelectrolytes: coupling of conformational and ionization equilibria in solution” and “New descriptors for proteins: separation of allergenic from nonallergenic proteins”. They attended the conference “Chemistry today for tomorrow” on February 1, 2019 – session chairing and poster presentation.

Attendance of cultural events on February 2, 2019 in Plovdiv – the European capital of culture for 2019

Prof. Vasant Kumar and Dr. Rumen Tomov from Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, University of Cambridge, UK visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University from  July 17 to 19, 2018. They had meetings on July 17 and 18, 2018 with Prof. Georgi Vayssilov, Prof. Tony Spassov, Prof. Roumen Tsekov, Prof. Anela Ivanova, Assoc. Prof. Elena Vassileva. A lecture was delivered at FCP-SU on July 18, 2018 entitled “Sustainability of Materials in the Evolving Energy-Environment Paradigm”. A lab tour was organized at FCP-SU on July 19, 2018.

Prof. Lindsay Greer from Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, University of Cambridge, UK visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University from  on 19 and 20 July, 2018. He delivered a lecture at FCP-SU on July 20, 2018 entitled “Extending the applicability of the glassy state”. He had meetings on July 19 and 20 with Prof. Georgi Vayssilov, Prof. Tony Spassov, Prof. Roumen Tsekov, Prof. Anela Ivanova, Assoc. Prof. Elena Vassileva, Assoc. Prof. Rossitsa Nikolova (FCP-SU), and Prof. Konstantin Hadjiivanov (BAS). He also had a meeting with Prof. Eliza Stefanova, Vice-Rector of Sofia University.

Dr. Rumen Tomov  from Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, University of Cambridge, UK visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University from  21 to 23 March 2018. On 22 and 23 March he attended the lectures at the ““Bio-materials: synthesis and characterization” school, held at the FCP-SU. He as well had a meeting with Dr. Elena Vassileva to discuss and perform preliminary work on a joint project devoted to obtaining and analyzing gel electrolytes for secondary batteries. Dr. Tomov delivered a lecture at the seminar of the Polymers group, FCP-SU, on March 22 entitled “Latest impedance spectroscopy characterization of zwitterionic polymer samples”.

Mr. Ben Ting from University of Cambridge, UK visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University from  05 to 06 December 2017. On 05 December he attended the lectures at the “Computational modeling of materials” school, held at the FCP-SU. On 06 December he delivered a lecture: “Innovations and Commercialization of research” during the “Ïnnovations” Seminar and following it  took part in a round-table discussion devoted to innovations and research commercialization.

Mr. Zsolt Tovari from Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, MainzGermany visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University from  04 to 07 December 2017. On 05 December he attended the lectures at the “Computational modeling of materials” school, held at the FCP-SU. On 06 December he delivered a lecture: “Coordination and management of EU and ERC projects” during the “Ïnnovations” Seminar and following it  took part in a round-table discussion devoted to innovations and research commercialization.

Dr. Kaloyan Koynov from Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, MainzGermany visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University from 14 to 21 July, 2017. Within this visit he had a meeting with members of the project MC to discuss current managerial activities – organization of the upcoming school in Mainz and of the short incoming and outgoing visits. In the period 17 to 21 July he met colleagues from FCP-SU: Prof. Dr. Konstantin Balashev (discussion of joint research activities), Dr. Peter Georgiev, Dr. Galia Madjarova.

Prof. Dr. Simeon Stoyanov – Senior scientist Unilever R&D, NL; (visiting) professor at Uni Wageningen, NL visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University in October/November 2017. Within the visit Prof. Stoyanov delivered a lecture on the 27th of October entitled “Understanding Intellectual Property (IP) – why, how & what“. The second lecture prof. Stoyanov entitled “(Contract) negotiation & Confidential disclosure agreement (CDA) – the good the bad and the ugly”was delivered on the 14th of November 2017.

Prof. Dr. Martin Baumgarten from Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, MainzGermany visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University from  10 to 12 July 2017. Within this visit, on the 11th of July, 2017, Prof. Baumgarten delivered a lecture entitled “Conjugated copolymers for ambipolar transistors”. Prof. Baumgarten had several meetings with researchers from the Faculty: Prof. Alja Tadjer, Prof. Anela Ivanova, Assoc. Prof. Galja Madjarova.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Albert Figuerola from the Department of Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Barcelona visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University from  22 to 28, May, 2017. Within the visit Prof. Figuerola delivered a lecture on the 23rd of May entitled “Nanohybrids: designing new inorganic tools for improved technologies”. Prof. Figuerola had several meetings with researchers from the Faculty: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Boryana Donkova, Prof. Dr. Irina Karadjova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Penka Vassileva, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anife Ahmedova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivayla Pantcheva.
